Force Science Research Spotlight: New and Emerging Research

The Force Science Institute is actively engaged in innovative and collaborative research with law enforcement agencies, academies, and academic institutions across the United States and Canada. This presentation will spotlight some of the new and emerging Force Science research on the human factors related to use-of-force encounters and their implications for law enforcement training, tactics, and investigations. These projects include the examination of the effects of exertion on shooting accuracy and decision-making; the perception versus the reality of police use-of-force encounters; the context surrounding unintentional discharges; novice shooting patterns; the impact of load-bearing vests on short sprinting performance; attentional limitations; and the effectiveness of current training practices.
